Friday afternoon links and notes.

Holy smokes -- what a night!

And what a season we appear to have before us!

First things first: I took the liberty of momentarily, um ... "accessing" pachoops.com in order to share my latest thoughts about the Utes with the good people there. Be sure to check out my handywork.

Second: I've been blown away by the Pac-12 action we've seen over the last two days. Three nailbiters -- two of which went overtime; and another dogfight that could have easily resulted in a big upset if UCLA hadn't kept the offense on high until the end. Based on what we've seen so far, this is going to be one heck of a Pac-12 season.

And with another huge slate of games coming up this weekend, here are a few links and notes to get you ready:

• Lot's of coverage of the "McKale Miracle." From Bruce Pascoe of the Arizona Daily Star and Ryan Thornburn of the Boulder Daily Camers/BuffZone.com.

• The Pac-12 is back in the "realm of potential respectability." Also, a Pac-12 Preview from the Sporting News.

• Notes from Washington State and from Washington before tomorrow's rivalry game. Coach Lorenzo Romar expects to see some signs of progress.

• Austin Seferian-Jenkins has decided not to play basketball.

• Disappointing evening for fans in Northern California. Cal and Stanford both lose on the road.
