The consensus is they're tournament-bound. Their RPI is still great. They have an impressive SOS and several quality wins -- basically everything you look for in a tournament team.
But I still have a couple concerns. First, I believe there are four other Pac-12 teams that are more deserving: Arizona, Oregon, Cal and UCLA. Is the Pac-12 a 5-bid conference this year?
Second, if Colorado has done enough to get a bid, then what about Arizona State? Or Stanford? Granted, the Cardinal and Sun Devils' RPIs aren't as sexy, but these three teams have similar records and been playing at a very even level for the last two months. Not to mention the Sun Devils beating the Buffaloes twice!
Something happened to Colorado during its landslide loss to Kansas. Then again in Tucson. And although they've had some fine wins since that time, I don't know if they ever conquered their demons, whatever they may be.
So for now I'm taking the easy route. I have the Buffs, the Cardinal and the Devils in the NIT pending their performances in the conference tournament. If any or all of those teams can do some damage in Vegas, then it could be enough to warrant a place in the big dance. If not, then the NIT may be just the place for these ~.500 Pac-12 teams.
